Which Dior Sauvage Is Best? 5 Editions Ranked
Sauvage Parfum is my pick for the best Dior Sauvage. The olibanum, sandalwood and orange give it a smoother, creamier feel, and I find it the most well-rounded overall. EDT is my second choice for its iconic pepper and ambroxan and versatility across temperatures. Compare Extrait for a very woody direction or Elixir for warm spice; EDP remains a balanced option between EDT and Parfum.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
Pepper and ambroxan are the focus here. That familiar combination is a big part of what makes the original Sauvage such an iconic release to me.
Performance
The wide temperature range is a big part of EDT's usefulness to me. Our dedicated Sauvage longevity guide covers how its wear time compares with the other four editions.
Versatility
I find EDT very versatile across a wide range of temperatures. Its popularity is worth considering if you want something less familiar, but it remains an iconic option to me.
Value
I would still consider EDT despite how popular it is. The pepper, ambroxan and versatility give it a clear reason to choose it, even though Parfum is my first pick overall.

Dior
Sauvage Extrait
Sauvage Extrait comes in third as the newest of these five versions and, to me, the most intense. It goes very woody, with less spice than Elixir. I still prefer Parfum's balance and EDT's versatility, but I'd choose Extrait if I wanted that woody direction.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Extrait if you want a very woody, intense Sauvage with less of the warm spice that stands out in Elixir.
Consider another if
Compare Elixir if you want immediately noticeable warm spices, or Parfum if a smoother, creamier balance sounds more appealing.

Sauvage EDP
Sauvage EDP comes in last, but it's still a viable option. Simply put, it bridges the gap between EDT and Parfum and gives you another balanced take on the line. I just tend to reach for EDT, Parfum or Extrait instead, which is why EDP finishes fifth in my ranking.

Performance
The separate Sauvage performance guide covers EDP's wear-time estimates. Its fifth-place finish here reflects my preference for EDT, Parfum or Extrait, while EDP remains a viable choice.
Versatility
EDP is another balanced option in the line. Its place between EDT and Parfum gives it a reason to try it, even though I tend to choose one of those two or Extrait.
Value
EDP is still worth considering if you prefer the middle ground between EDT and Parfum. I simply tend to choose EDT, Parfum or Extrait, so I would compare those before deciding.
The final word
Which one should you buy?
Sauvage Parfum would be my first choice for its smooth, creamy feel and the balance of olibanum, sandalwood and orange. EDT is next for its iconic pepper and ambroxan and versatility across temperatures. Try Extrait if you want the very woody, intense direction, or Elixir if immediately noticeable warm spices are what appeal to you. EDP finishes last in my ranking, but it remains a viable, balanced option between EDT and Parfum. I simply tend to choose EDT, Parfum or Extrait instead.
