Which Rabanne 1 Million Is Best? 8 Editions Ranked
1 Million Lucky is my top pick. The plum, hazelnut, honey and amber create a fruity, sweet and nutty gourmand with a slightly ozonic feel that I find truly unique. Elixir takes second for vanilla, tonka and patchouli in winter, followed by Golden Oud for its creamy, earthy and smooth oud direction. Black brings tropical pineapple and coconut, while Night Elixir adds syrupy sweetness and cinnamon. Royal's fresher aromatic approach is less of what I want from 1 Million, Parfum is very floral, and the original EDT finishes last for me.

Rabanne
1 Million Elixir Parfum Intense
Elixir takes second. Vanilla, tonka and patchouli make up the bulk of the scent for me, with some dry cedar coming through as well. This is a heavy winter gem. Lucky is still my favorite overall, but Elixir is the one I would compare first if you want that richer vanilla and tonka direction.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.

Choose Elixir if you want the heavy vanilla, tonka and patchouli direction I consider a winter gem, with some dry cedar alongside it.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
Vanilla, tonka and patchouli lead the scent, with dry cedar coming into play too. The overall result feels heavy and rich to me, which is why I like it as a winter choice.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies Elixir's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Versatility
Winter is where Elixir makes the most sense to me. Its heavy vanilla, tonka and patchouli character is the reason I would reach for it then.
Value
Elixir is my second choice overall and a strong reason to explore the line beyond the original EDT. I would choose it specifically for its heavy vanilla, tonka and patchouli character in winter.

1 Million Golden Oud
Golden Oud comes in third. Oud and labdanum create a very uncharacteristic take on 1 Million, with balsam, leather and sandalwood adding to a creamy, earthy yet smooth finish. It's probably the most daring version in the line to me, and one I would try if you want a different side of 1 Million.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Golden Oud if you want the oud and labdanum blend, with a creamy, earthy and smooth finish that makes it my most daring comparison here.
Consider another if
Start with Lucky or Elixir if their fruity, nutty or vanilla-led sweetness sounds closer to what you want from the line.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
Oud and labdanum are the main draw, with balsam, leather and sandalwood contributing to the creamy, earthy and smooth finish. It feels very different from the character I usually associate with 1 Million.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies Golden Oud's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Value
Golden Oud earns third place because its uncharacteristic oud and labdanum direction gives it a clear reason to try it. I would consider it for that daring, creamy and earthy character rather than expecting the familiar sweet 1 Million profile.
04 Our overall ranking
Rabanne
1 Million Black
1 Million Black takes fourth with a more tropical approach. It's still very sweet, but pineapple and coconut give the line a change of pace. That tropical character is the reason I would try it, especially if you want something different from Lucky's plum and hazelnut or Elixir's vanilla and tonka.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Black if you want a very sweet 1 Million with a tropical pineapple and coconut direction.
Consider another if
Compare Lucky for fruity plum and hazelnut, or Elixir if you would rather have a heavy vanilla and tonka scent for winter.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
Pineapple and coconut give Black its more tropical character. It keeps plenty of sweetness, so I would compare it for that change of flavor rather than expecting a departure from the line's sweet side.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies 1 Million Black's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Value
Black is worth comparing for the tropical change of pace it brings to the line. I would buy it for the pineapple and coconut specifically, while Lucky and Elixir remain the sweeter directions I prefer overall.

Rabanne
1 Million Night Elixir
Night Elixir takes fifth. Syrup and cinnamon give it a spicy, dessert-like smell alongside the familiar 1 Million backbone. That syrupy sweetness is the part I would compare it for. I still prefer the four versions above it overall, but this has a clear direction if that dessert-like spice appeals to you.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Night Elixir if syrupy sweetness and cinnamon over a familiar 1 Million backbone sound like the direction you want.
Consider another if
Compare Lucky if you prefer fruity, nutty sweetness, or Elixir for the vanilla, tonka and patchouli blend I rank second.

Scent profile
Syrup and cinnamon create the spicy, dessert-like character I get from Night Elixir. The familiar 1 Million backbone is still present underneath that sweetness and spice.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies Night Elixir's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Value
I would consider Night Elixir for its syrup and cinnamon combination specifically. Lucky and Elixir are still the sweet directions I would put my money toward first, with Night Elixir being another take to compare.

Rabanne
1 Million Royal
Royal comes in sixth. It's a slightly fresher, more aromatic take on 1 Million, but that isn't really why I reach for this line. I can appreciate the different direction, though the five versions above it give me more of the character I personally want from a 1 Million fragrance.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Royal if you want to compare a slightly fresher, more aromatic interpretation of 1 Million.
Consider another if
Start with Lucky, Elixir or one of the other higher-ranked versions if, like me, a fresher aromatic direction isn't why you reach for this line.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
The slightly fresher and more aromatic approach is what stands out to me in Royal. It's a different direction, but it isn't the reason I usually reach for 1 Million.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies Royal's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Value
I would try Royal if its fresher aromatic direction is specifically what you want. For my money, the five versions above it better represent the reasons I enjoy this line, with Lucky being my first choice.
07 Our overall ranking
Rabanne
1 Million Parfum
Parfum takes seventh. It's very, very floral to me, and a large departure from the rest of the line. That floral direction is the reason it sits this low in my ranking. I would compare it carefully before buying, because it isn't the version I would choose for the qualities I enjoy most in 1 Million.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try Parfum if you specifically want to compare the very floral direction that makes it such a departure from the rest of the line for me.
Consider another if
Start with Lucky or one of the higher-ranked versions if the very floral character is not what you want from 1 Million.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
The very floral character is what defines Parfum for me. It feels like a large departure from the other versions, and that direction isn't one of my favorites in this line.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies Parfum's wear-time estimate. This position reflects my scent preference and the differences described here, rather than using that performance order as an overall ranking.
Value
Parfum would be near the bottom of my shopping list because of its very floral character. It is also the exception to my general recommendation of choosing the flankers over the original EDT; I would compare this one carefully for your own taste.

1 Million EDT
The original EDT finishes last for me. In its current form, I find it weak and overdone. Aside from Parfum, I would choose any of the other versions here over it. Parfum's very floral character is another direction that doesn't suit my taste, but the EDT gives me little reason to buy a bottle today.
Editorial wear estimate. Skin, weather and application affect performance.
Choose it if
Try EDT if you specifically want to compare the original 1 Million with the flankers and decide whether you share my preference for the other directions.
Consider another if
Start with Lucky or one of the other higher-ranked versions if you share my view that the current EDT feels weak and overdone. Parfum's floral direction is another one I would compare carefully.

Scent, wear & buying advice
Scent profile
The original 1 Million is the baseline for this comparison, but I find the current version weak and overdone. The other directions, especially Lucky's fruity, nutty blend, give me more reason to choose a bottle.
Performance
The dedicated 1 Million longevity guide supplies EDT's wear-time estimate. My view that the current version feels weak is a qualitative personal impression; this guide keeps the source estimate separate from my overall buying preference.
Value
I would put my money toward one of the higher-ranked versions rather than EDT. Parfum is the exception to that general recommendation for my taste because of its very floral direction; Lucky is where I would start instead.
The final word
Which one should you buy?
Lucky is the first bottle I would buy for its unique fruity plum, hazelnut, honey and amber character. Elixir is my second choice and a heavy winter gem, while Golden Oud is the daring oud and labdanum direction to compare. Black gives the line a sweet tropical twist, followed by Night Elixir's syrup and cinnamon. Royal's fresher aromatic approach isn't why I usually reach for 1 Million. Parfum's very floral direction is another poor fit for my taste, and it remains the exception to my general recommendation of choosing the flankers over EDT. The original EDT finishes last overall.
