What is Lattafa Affection a dupe of?
Lattafa Pride Affection is a clone of Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato 33. Pistachio and hazelnut are the obvious starting point, with creamy notes, fruit and flowers around them. If that's the part of Kayali's fragrance you enjoy, Affection is another bottle to consider.
This is the original Affection Eau de Parfum from Lattafa Pride. The reference is Yum Pistachio Gelato 33, which Kayali describes as an Eau de Parfum Intense, rather than the matching body spray or other products in the Yum collection.
What do they share?
Affection's catalog pyramid starts with pistachio, hazelnut and blackcurrant. Lactones, jasmine, raspberry and lily of the valley follow, with lactones, vanilla and tonka bean at the base. Lactonic notes describe the milky side of the profile.
Lattafa's current description calls the opening's blackcurrant detail cassis buds. It also puts the lactonic accord in the middle rather than repeating it at the base. Published lists vary in detail; the panels here preserve the catalog profiles.
Kayali's expanded list is much longer. Pistachio, ice cream, bergamot, hazelnut, rum and cardamom open the fragrance. Its middle includes lily of the valley, pear, jasmine, peony, geranium, raspberry and white peach. Whipped cream, marshmallow, cotton candy, tonka, loukhoum, sandalwood, cacao and cedar sit at the base.
The shared nuts, raspberry, flowers and tonka make the pairing easy to understand. The original also names citrus, rum and several dessert notes that aren't in Affection's displayed list. Don't read the number of notes as a quality score; the balance between them is what you'll notice when you try the fragrances.
Is Affection worth a look?
We'd consider it if we wanted to explore the pistachio-and-cream style. When sampling, pay attention to how much of the nuts, milkiness, fruit and flowers you want. A fragrance can fit the same general idea and still lean toward a different part of it.
